10/20/17 - Due to the homecoming schedule - students worked on their writing. Beta drafts are due Tuesday, October 24, 2017 before 6am. You must turn in your beta draft to google classroom. I will not accept hand written drafts.

10/16/17 - Students listened to "Man from the South" by Roald Dahl. As they listened to the story, they annotated it for style, plot, imagery, diction, syntax, and whatever else stood out to them. After, they completed the Style Chart.
10/12/17 - I was pulled out for an ILT meeting. Students viewed The BFG for Roald Dahl's style. Students took notes on what they saw and wrote down the examples.

10/24/17 - Complete your Beta Editing and turn in the story and the beta editing form to the box as you walk in. If you haven't finished you story, do that and submit to google classroom.
10/20/17 - Complete your beta drafts and submit them to google classroom. They must be typed and submitted. I will not accept hand written drafts.
10/18/17 - Students began writing their short stories. The Beta Draft is due Tuesday, October 24, 2017 before 6am. The Beta Draft is wroth 15 points. Be sure to submit a complete draft for complete points. Drafts must be submitted to google classroom.
10/16/17 - Complete "Man from the South" and style chart.
10/12/17 - complete homework 1-5 and turn in on Monday, 10/16/17
10/10/17 - I will be out on Thursday - the homework is not due until Monday - 10/16/17
1) Read "The Wish" by Roald Dahl
2) Annotate "The Wish" - look for author's style in diction, syntax, imagery, and plot.
3) Write down three of Dahl's distinct style types that you note in "The Wish" - Write the example next to your claim.
4) Plot out "The Wish" on the plot diagram handout.
5) Plot out your own story using the plot diagram (back side of the handout).
10/6/17 - No homework. Continue to brainstorm ideas for your short story.
