Special Note on Annotations. My challenge to you is to go beyond the highlighting and underlining. Look at what your marked up. Why did you mark it up? Yes, you are right with it was important and it stood out to you, but why? Write next to the text why what you underlined stood out to you. Write notes about the diction you noticed, the imagery that you felt, the sentence structure. Have a conversation with the passages by writing your comments in the margins. For example, "Weird Homie". Rodriguez kept referring to himself as a "weird homie." This stood out to me because of his age, and the conation of the words. It seems out of place when he says it, but he is referring to himself as in his youth.
