On our first day back we jumpped right into Unit 2 Part 2 and film analysis. We reviewed vocab terms and began to look at Cinematic Techniques. As we move forward toward analysis, it is extreamly important that students have a working knowledge and understanding of literary elements and cinematic techniques. This way, when students began to analyze, they will be able to use the correct terminology within their analysis and discussions. Students began to create a "Writer's Cheat Sheet" for literary and cinematic terms.
We "unpacked" the embedded assessment 2 for Unit 2, writing an essay analyzing the cinematic style of director Tim Burton. Discovering that we will have to watch some Time Burton movies, understand Cinematic techniques, stylastic techniques and analyze how the director uses them in his films. Lots of cool stuff! To support this essay, we are going to watch clips from Charlie and The Chocolate Factory and Edward Scissorhands. To furhter support students, I have started a Movie Club where students can come afterschool on Thursdays and watch movies. This month we are watching, Beetlejuice, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands, and Sweeny Todd. I'm hoping to bring in Miss Peregrine's home for Peculiar Children.
Today, we began to look at film clips to get an understanding of the cinimatic techniques.
Happy Movie Viewing,
