What is voice?
Voice is the heart and soul of an artist. Voice is what connects the artist to the listener/reader. Voice is what makes a piece of work as distinctive as a fingerprint. Voice is a writer's distinctive use of language to express ideas as well as his or her persona. As a reader, I'm able to look at voice through diction (word choice), syntax (sentence structure), and imagery (sensory images and figurative language). This helps me to infer what is happening within the story.
The most awesome thing about writing; I can say whatever I want about the story as long as I can support my opinions with textual evidence found by looking at the voice, diction, syntax, and imagery.
